Matt and Joe - Algarve 2019
I am thrilled to be able to share photos from Matt and Joe’s wedding - thank you Matt and Lena for sharing these photos with me….
When Matt and Joe first told me about their wedding, they were helping me set up Rosie and Nick’s garden wedding. They said they were thinking about having it at the family home in Portugal, which sounded idyllic. Fast forward a few months, Rosie has given her recommendation and blessing for them to use me too!! I couldn’t have been happier. When I’m with them, I laugh constantly, their eye for detail and cool styling is perfection and it meant that I got to go and spend a few days in the gorgeous sunshine!
The first visit in February was wet but gave Matt and Joe the focus that was needed… with the wedding growing ever closer!! We sat around the kitchen table, making plans, calling suppliers, drinking coffee and listening to Portuguese bands on youtube… after much searching they decided on 24 Robbers Swing Band who were amazing!
Fast forward to August, I arrived in Portugal late on Tuesday night and was immediately greeted with a glass of wine. The next three days were spent getting everything ready… from making gifts for the ‘best people’ to shopping trips, styling a chill out area to creating the guest book. Meals were spent around a huge table, getting to know Matt and Joe’s families, which was a huge highlight.
When planning, Matt and Joe had asked if I could recommend a UK florist. It had to be Design By Nature - not only is Emily a good friend but she’s also the best florist I know! I knew she would bring her A game and cope well with the pressures of shipping flowers across Europe and working in the hot Portuguese sun. What she created was simply breathtaking and I can’t wait to work alongside her again.
The caterers were also phenomenal, I couldn’t recommend Casa do Marques enough! They came with a huge team of staff, all who were so friendly and professional. The food looked and tasted amazing, the bar was well stocked and kept flowing and their Event Manager, Adriana Soares, was a dream to work with.
The trees were lit up with beautiful lights from Algarve Marquees, chairs provided by Os Agostos, rings designed by Matt aka Matthew Calvin, and finishing touches came from items gifted (like a cool picture from Matt’s sister which hung in the entrance), made (like shells which were decorated with Matt and Joe’s names on to hold the rings) and borrowed from around the house and garden!
A huge thanks to Matt, Joe, their families and friends for making me so welcome. I hope I get to return to Casa da Rocha one day!!
